EK4D: Shouldn't Earth Day Be Everyday?

Earth, Atlantic Ocean view, and moon

A lovely view for EARTH DAY.

Since tomorrow is Earth Day, I figured it's time to switch attention to ecology. Serendipitously, there's a couple of cool blog posts here at Zaadz that are ecologically conscious. Here they are:

Christiana's Blog: Getting Control

David's Blog: Active Consumers

and then there's

Casey's Blog: Dinner with Lovins and Wilber

Showoff.

Anyway, while we're at it, I might as well pimp around this FREE ebook, Winning the Oil Endgame.
It looks cool so I bookmarked it for future reading. More on this later.

But before I go to watch the Ottmar concert, let me ask you this evil koan:

Do you believe Global Warming (aka Climate Change)? And why?

Happy Earth Day.

For all those who are not subscribed to Integralnaked, simply go to Michael Crichtons homepage:

I do not believe in Global Warming because I read Michael Crichton’s State of Fear and swallowed it like Gospel. When a #1 New York Times bestseller with a doctaret and friends like Integral Institute writes a book I tend to just lean back my head, open my jaws, and drop it in with not much in the way of discrimination (yes, I chew paper…….). In this way I am just a product of what I consume without questions. And I don’t even mind.

But it's not like he even said Global Warming doesn't exist.  He said let's examine the evidence like scientists instead of politicians, if you'll allow me to paraphrase.  Or better yet, to drop our prejudices when examining the evidence (i.e. if we believe in global warming, we find evidence to support it.  Just like if we believe we are victims, we find evidence to support it).  That being said, if I recall correctly, since Chrichton's analysis, there has been more evidence to support that we humans are effecting climate change.  I don't think that's a good thing.  I do think we should take steps to live sustainably in all aspects of life while we let the scientists sort out the details :)

Right. I remember now. The bottom line was the dangers of politicized science not “global warming is a load of cracked crockery”. I shall keep that in mind.

Well ……my opinion…..

Whether you believe Global Warming is as serious as some say or not…………

Why not be conscious of our earths resources and of our polluting and do our own personal best to keep our earth beautiful.  Why not?  Just for the sake of loving where we live?

I buy it. I’m on board. I am feeeeling it. Not only that but I live in Canada so environmentally speaking I can do no wrong! Go Integral Ecology!

Also: when I buy a house it will be a Green house and when I buy a washer and dryer it will be one of those ones with the Energy sticker (maybe that’s Canada-specific).

AND FURTHERMORE: I like animals! But I don’t believe in freeing them all. Because that would be a disaster.

And on top of ALL that!: I forget…….

I totally agree……how much longer are we going to blame everything on God.

I was given a copy of the ten commandments movie….you know that one with all the famous peeps.  I love watching this movie……mainly because it helps set my mind back in history.  Well I guess….who knows what real history is anymore….you know from who's perspective.  I am sure the Egyptians would love to disagree with some of the movie.

At any rate …..I watched it again this past fall and kind of went…..omg those people had no clue.  The mountain sets on fire and they blame it on God……….couldn't possibly have anything to do with natural planetary happenings like volcanos?

I believe that the earth shifts and shakes itself up to help keep itself in balance.  Like the body heals its own cuts, etc.

But that is not to say that we each individually shouldn't take personal responsibility for the place we call home.  Even though the body helps to heal itself…..we are told to take care of it.  Even though the earth helps to heal itself….we should help take care of it.  I think purely out of respect for our habitat.
