"In the Philippines, Voltes V series was banned on TV by President Ferdinand Marcos because he believed that the movie teached the children to do violence. But many people believe that the real reason is that he feared that the movie will influence people to do a revolution against his dictatorship. As you might know, the main theme of Voltes V series is the discrimination between the horned and the unhorned (may be taken in reality as the rich and the poor or the strong and the weak, where the strong pushed the weak and made them slaves). And the movie plot leads to the rebellion of the slaves which at the end, defeated the unjust horned people." -- Voltes V Makes Me Dream, by Ivan Chen [read more fan insights]

I can definitely relate with Ivan Chen's insightful essay. I too grew up in the Voltes V generation. Yes, I know I'm ancient. So don't rub it in, lest I kick you in the seeds. Funny how an anime robot cartoon can have an impact like this. It transcends religion, culture, nationality, and continues to ripple across generations. No terrorism, hijacking, bombing, ass kicking in meatspace required. It's just there, silently planting symbols, mythologies, and kosmic seeds of bullet-proof ideas.

“I assure you that it was premeditated. Everything just flowed one blog at a time.”
It seems that would NOT be pre-meditated… or am I missing something here?
”p.s. Yes Matthew, Voltron is a copy cat, and he looks more like a nimfadoro than a robot.”
And how many times am I going to have to tell you that I don't care about Voltron… It's just a stupid nickname that stuck. It probably came from my last name at the time “Vogel” and the fact that I was very tall… but whatever the reason, you don't have to convince me that Voltes V is cooler than Voltron. I BELIEVE you!
hehe. thanks for that. good catch. changed it appropriately. Voltron still sucks! :)
Why do you keep pre-emptively attacking Voltron? Are you worried that he/she/it is going to attack and kill Voltes V when you are not looking, or something? Why do you attach your identity so strongly to Voltes V? Can we say “Atman Project?” I prefer “Project Z”
hahaha. i'm not attach to anything… i'm just flowing with serendipity… and acknowledging it… Atman Project and Project Z are but symbols. and as symbols they are to be destroyed.
plus Voltron is no match for Voltes V. not by a long shot! Voltron is a nimfadoro. he'll get hit in the zeeds by voltes bazooka before he can draw his cheesy blazing nimfadoro sword.
WTF are you talking about?
sorry man, the verbosity of the masked man rubbed off on me.

Honey, you ain't seen ancient, not in same zip code with it. For ancient you have to have grown up in the Rocky and Bullwinkle era like Auntie CalmEagle.
As far as serendipitous blogging goes, yes, I've experienced it and no I can't give you any examples yet b/c my left brain logicalgirl goes flyfishing in New Zealand when I let right brain dreamygirl drive awhile. I'll try and get them together for an example for you.

I think serendipitous blogging is probably pretty frequent. The social apsects of the internet are fueld by memes and bits of news and trends and that are bound to coallesce similarly in the minds of different people. If you're even remotely tapped into the consciouness that sprawled out across the blogosphere you're bound to experience some form of synchronicity. Goodness knows it's happened to me more than once.
yes Siona. it's like what they say in golf, “the more you practice, the luckier you get.” my observation is the same with blogging: the more you blog (consciously) the more serendipitous it gets :)
