BBS 2006: Day Three Summary

Posted on Oct 28th, 2006 by ~C4Chaos : (hyper)linker ~C4Chaos

Yesterday was the last day of the Blog Business Summit. The main topic was Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and how to get the most out of blogging. I especially like the keynote by John Battelle on publishing and embracing search engines (especially Google). The presentation by the Scobles was also fun and very warm. All in all, the conference was worth it. I've met some amazing people and made some serendipitous connections.

From my perspective, although the conference was about "business" blogging, the theme can be generalized into two intermeshing categories: (1) the evolution of the technological backend (blog tools, RSS, search, etc.) that drives social media in general (and blogging in particular), and (2) the collective evolution/growth of society (e.g. intent, awarenes) as a whole as it makes its way up Maslow's Hierarchy. (2) was only implied though. Most of the presentation (understandably) focused on the evolving landscape of media and the tools available. I will expound on (2) later.

There's a lot information for me to digest from the 3-day conference. I will share my reflections on them in future posts. In the meantime, check out my real-time notes on Day three below. If you want to read all my notes, follow the BBS2006 rabbit hole. I hope that you find this information useful.

Hey ~C4Chaos,
Just wanted to touch base with you since I travel around the new media circles as well – mostly in the videoblogging world as well as various tech conferences.

I'm working on a collaborative documentary on the pre-war performance of the mainstream newsmedia over at EchoChamberProject.com
My wife and I also have a videoblog over at EbbAndFlow.tv about Inner Peace & Outer Action.

Anyway, just diving into Zaadz for the first time.   I just posted my first couple of blogs – including this Spiral Dynamics Cheat Sheet.

Thank god that you added RSS feeds for user blogs since the last time I checked.  That'll make it easier to incorporate specific users into my reading habits – your blog is top of the list.  It'd also be rad if there were RSS feeds for individual tags as well (ala del.icio.us)

I'm also hoping that it's either already possible or possible soon to be able to embed videos in blog posts.  I saw that Brian posted a YouTube video, but I didn't see a clear way to turn off WYSIWYG editor in order to paste in the direct HTML code.  I've got some videos that I'd start posting here.
